It seems that this Christmas season has been about what is really important and to this fact I am truly thankful. I am so stress free right now and feel absolutely the most relaxed I have been this Christmas, which isn't like me at all. Usually, I'm in tears about money or if I've hurt someones feelings over buying them the right gift that they requested, or did I forget anyone. It all was becoming to much about something else, and my eyes to put it simply, weren't in right place. To let some foolishness such as this ruin a wonderful holiday like this my heart wasn't in the right place.
This year was a different story. Our families didn't spend a ton of monies of each other, one reason is because we didn't have it to spend and the other and most important is that we have come to the conclusion that it's not about the gifts that matter at Christmas that move us to a place of love, it's the ones that are meant from the heart.
We received a card from a relative that we wouldn't be seeing over the holidays and this brought me to tears, as well as my husband. This individual simply could not join us, as much as they would like to but wanted us to know that they sent their love and how well thought of we were in their eyes. It was a very special card. I know from their handwriting that they meant every word written on the page. Sometimes it might be hard to say exactly what it is that we feel, the struggling of words within our heart can be different than the ones in our minds. Overpowering the mind and deciding to let our heart win out and tell someone what we are feeling takes courage and a lot of love. I appreciate this very much, more than they will ever know.
Again, I was blessed to read a letter. Beautifully hand written, addressed to me and given as a gift on Christmas Eve. It was from my husband John. He is quiet and keeps things to himself and doesn't want to worry the rest of us with his trivial burdens. It was a love letter of sorts and a Christmas gift combination. We all received one, all would need a tissue from the contents from the heartfelt meaning behind every word. How special indeed, to get a letter from your loved one telling just how special you are to them. What a gift. I feel like going to Wal-Mart tomorrow and getting a firebox and putting all these precious hand written bits of love in for safe keeping, to pull out and remind me what Christmas is all about. This Christmas would be defined as a special one in my book indeed. I hope that there will be many more to come like it in our future and in yours. It proves one thing, you certainly don't have to have money or spend a lot on each other to be happy at Christmas or any other time. You just have to open your heart and be honest and what's going on inside of you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Someone who is truly rich is rich in matters of the heart, love, not material possesions that fade with time.
